Crikvenica
Crikvenica, like Opatija, was once a popular tourist destination for Austrian Royalty, with the first luxury spa hotel built in 1890. Many of the old hotels are still there, as well as new ones. The town has some lovely sandy, pebbly and rocky beaches with facilities for water sports, fishing, diving and more. The nearby pine forest has many biking, walking and hiking trails through the pine forest, including the Love Path - an 8km walkway passing a fort, a freshwater spring and some superb views. There are numerous old churches to see in Crikvenica and its neighbouring towns, as well as the Crikvenica Town Museum and Town Gallery.

Novi Vinodolski
One of the main attractions in Novi Vinodolski is the Frankopan Castle, built in 1288 and now home to a national library, a museum and gallery. You can also see ruins of a fort, thought to be Roman or Medieval, as well as a range of churches dating back to the 15th century. There are some well-mapped biking, hiking and horse-riding trails nearby, as well as paved and rocky beaches great for swimming and water sports.
